My aim as a music teacher is to inspire joy in music, and cultivate a passion for music and learning that goes beyond having lessons. I want my students to understand music, be inquisitive, discover things in their own practice and develop a lifelong relationship with music.
My piano teaching principle is based around finding joy in music through exploring a full range of skills; from reading music to rhythmic exploration, listening skills and improvisation. Although I progressed through to Grade 8 ABRSM in my teens (as well as in singing and clarinet), I'm not 'stuck in the classical world'. While respecting and passing on the teachings of the classical greats, I also aim to cater to my students' tastes and interests, and introduce them to new ones as yet undiscovered!
Students can expect interactive activities, games, themes and projects throughout the year. My teaching comes with a focus on forward planning, goal setting and regular reviews so you can plot your musical journey and see results!
I accept piano students from Reception age to those with more wisdom to their years, and what you want out of lessons is the first priority.
